The special atmosphere of the Confiserie:

Step into a miniature world like Alice through the Looking Glass

There is a fascination about the shop at Am Graben: the architecture of the shop, which has been designed by famous architect of the time Josef Hofmann, is largely in its original state, and only 2 minutes walking distance from St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Once you enter the shop, you will feel like Alice Through the Looking Glass. Cherry-wood shelves dating from more than a hundred years ago and polished for the present day, stacked full with miniature cardboard boxes placed neatly side by side: everything is miniature and reminiscent of furniture for a doll’s house – tiny trunks, wonderful chests of drawers with miniature brass handles, hatboxes and sewing boxes. Each individual box is covered with special wrapping paper designed by the Wiener Werkstaette in the 1930s.

The beautiful boxes have long become collector’s items, but let us not forget that the boxes contain unique works of art, for it is the delightful miniature confection for which Altmann & Kühne is so renowned. The individual confection is exclusively manufactured by hand, the boxes wrapped in coloured paper and carefully packed!

Make sure to visit our shop next time you come to Vienna! We are looking forward to welcoming you!
